About the Artist

Talitha Tolles

Talitha Tolles (she/her) is an Indigiqueer facilitator, storyteller, artist, and above all else, a strong, resilient, Métis woman. Talitha comes from the Vasseur-Longlade family line who were Drummond Island Voyageurs that fought to create what is known today as the Georgian Bay Métis Community. Today Talitha lives, works and plays in Prince Edward County.

Almost ten years ago, Talitha began her journey as a community facilitator dedicating her time to working with Indigenous youth. She has worked in partnership with over 300,000 + people to engage in active citizenship by promoting awareness, agency and support for Indigenous populations in Canada. On her journey she has found love for program development,  community organizing and mobilizing, action planning and leadership development.

Talitha finds joy in bringing people together, helping them find their passion and drive for change, and assisting people in building and working on relationships with social justice and anti-oppressive frameworks. Talitha's methods are experiential, community based and rooted in action.

When Talitha isn't working in community you can find her beading or creating art. Talitha's latest adventure is a Virtual Gallery titled: Reparations. Talitha is focusing on a collection of pieces created to support in healing her personal trauma and lived experiences as a Queer Métis woman.

All of this lived experience this has led Talitha to her true passion, Redwood Bead. Redwood Bead is a small business focusing on traditional and contemporary jewelry design. All techniques have been learned from incredible artists around Turtle Island but her most patient and loving teacher has been her Mother.
